Dear Science Colleague:
You and your students are cordially invited to our 4th annual Science Fest. The day of science fun and learning will be held at Black Hawk College, East Campus on Friday, March 14. The emphasis of activities will be placed on the physical sciences and is designed for juniors and seniors enrolled in chemistry and physics. We hope you and your students can attend! The schedule is as follows:
8:45-9:00  Registration
9:00-10:00 a.m. Welcome & Session One
Astounding, amazing, and EXPLOSIVE demonstrations! With Dr. Alan Abbott
10:05-10:55 a.m. Session Two
Engaging physics, engineering and chemistry hands-on activities!
 11:00-11:50 a.m. Session Three
Engaging physics, engineering and chemistry hands-on activities! Q & A with the scientists
Q & A with the members of BHC – East campus science club
11:50 a.m. – 12:20 p.m. Lunch
Subway box lunch, Choices:  turkey, roast beef, ham, veggie, tuna, cold cut trio
12:25-1:15 p.m. Session Four
Engaging physics, engineering and chemistry hands-on activities!
1:20-1:50 p.m. Session Five
 A mixture of quiz bowl and “Minute to Win It” type activities. Each school will determine, in advance, which 6 students will represent them on a team to compete in our activities.
1:50- 2:00 p.m. Wrap-up evaluations


In order to plan accordingly, please tell us how many students you are bringing, t-shirt sizes, and lunch preferences by Wednesday, March 5. Once you’ve registered, we will send you a list of topics so that you can prepare for the quiz bowl.

It will be a first come, first served registration as our space is limited. Please bring only your junior and senior chemistry and physics students so that a variety of schools can participate.

We are very excited to host Science Fest, and we encourage you to make the event a part of your curriculum this year. Please free to contact us with any questions you may have.
