BHC recycles more than 16,800 pounds of electronics

Black Hawk College recently was honored by Vintage Tech Recyclers Inc. for the college’s electronics recycling efforts.

In 2010, the college kept more than 16,800 pounds of electronics out of landfills by recycling the materials through Vintage Tech Recyclers. The fall 2010 pickup included 7,642 pounds of electronics consisting of computers, CRT monitors, LCD monitors, servers, printers, microwaves, televisions and other miscellaneous electronics.

Vintage Tech Recyclers has a “no landfill” policy and all of the material was recycled.

“Black Hawk College is committed to the sustainable use of resources so the needs of the college community are met without negatively impacting future generations,” said Mike Phillips, vice president for administration.
