Turney mitten (web)The ArtSpace Gallery at Black Hawk College is exhibiting the photography of Robert Turney from Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 10.

“Photographing found objects in an environment that isolates the uniqueness of each subject has always interested me,” Turney says.

“This series, 41 Gloves and a Mitten, photographed using the wet-plate collodian photographic process, continues this conceit.

“Lost, discarded, left to the elements and time, what do these gloves look like when rescued from the sides of highways, alleys or city sidewalks? In a very real sense, I consider these 41 gloves and a mitten to be portraits.”

Everyone is invited to closing reception with the artist from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.

The ArtSpace Gallery is located on the first floor of Building 4 at the Quad-Cities Campus, 6600 34th Ave., Moline.
