How do I nominate a student? To nominate a student, please download the Student Commitment to Excellence Award Nomination Form and submit it to the committee chair listed below by March 25,2015.
What is the Student Commitment to Excellence Award? These annual awards honor Black Hawk College students who have shown outstanding commitment to excellence in one or more areas. It recognizes students who have “gone that extra mile” to be successful. Approximately 15-20 students are selected each year to receive this award.
Who can nominate a student? Any employee of Black Hawk College may nominate one student per year for the Student Commitment to Excellence Award.
Qualifications: The student must attend classes (full-time or part-time) at the Quad-Cities Campus, or at any of the other Quad-Cities sites, and must have shown a commitment to excellence in some area. This need not be academic, athletic, or artistic. There are no set categories for this award. Many of our previous honorees have been individuals who overcame substantial obstacles in order to pursue their education or are involved in community service, either at the college or in the wider community.
If you have any questions please contact one of the committee members listed below and they will be glad to assist you. Please fill out the form completely and make sure you have all the necessary signatures. Also include a phonetic spelling of the nominee’s name if you think that might be necessary.
Award Ceremony & Banquet: The award ceremony and banquet is held each year, usually on the first Saturday in May.
If you have questions about nominating a student for a future award, please contact any of the Campus Life Committee members below:
