Borrowing Privileges
Faculty members are entitled to special borrowing privileges: semester loan period and waiver of regular fines. Since these privileges apply only to use of the BHC Library collection, the faculty privilege library card remains in the Library. For further details, please contact the Circulation Desk at 309-796-5700. Reference materials may be available for 24- or 48-hour loan. Please contact the Reference Desk at 309-796-5147. Periodicals [except for the most recent issue] are available for 7 day loan. If a special need arises, please contact a librarian.
Course Reserves
Faculty members are invited to place books, chapters, articles, and other materials on RESERVE to be used by students in specific courses. There are five loan periods to choose from: 2-hour in library-use only, 24-hour overnight, 2-day, 3-day, and 7-day. Please allow at least 3 days for library staff to prepare the materials for lending BEFORE announcing that materials are on reserve. Also, please remind your students that they must present their library card or photo ID in order to borrow materials from the Reserve Desk. For further details, please contact the Circulation Desk at 309-796-5700.
Information Literacy
Information literacy is the ability to locate information, evaluate it, and use it effectively. Working with faculty, librarians introduce students to skills needed to become independent life-long information consumers.
