Officer Ferguson began police work in 1978 with the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department. During his time at Rock Island County, John worked in the Criminal Investigation Division, Warrant Division, Patrol, and Civil Division. John also served on the S.W.A.T. and River Rescue Teams. John was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988, and was the Division Commander for Civil Division and Court House Security when he retired in December of 2003. John lives in Milan, IL. John and his family enjoy life on a small farm. John likes to travel, ride motorcycles, as well as serving on the pit crew for his son Alec’s motocross racing.
