Lieutenant Don Boysen began police work in 1968 with the Rock Island Police Department. During his time at Rock Island Don was assigned to the detective division, the traffic division and patrol. Don was also a field training officer. Don spent five years with Plant Protection at International Harvester where he was a safety officer and a class #1 firefighter. In 1985 he worked in Prophetstown where he was the juvenile officer and day shift patrol officer. In 1986, Don joined the Black Hawk College Public Safety Department. Lt. Boysen is the day shift Commander and also is the Department’s Hazardous Materials Officer. Lt. Boysen earned both an Associate in Applied Science and an Associate in Life Science both from Black Hawk College. In June of 2000 Lt. Boysen was one of three members of the Public Safety Department to receive the Award for Valor from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. Don is also a licensed barber. When Don is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife Marilyn and his children and grandchildren.
