The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program is designed to prepare nurses who, as beginning practitioners, are able to give quality nursing care to clients and function as members of nursing and health teams. Upon completion of the program, a graduate is eligible to take the examination for licensure as a registered nurse.

Registered nurses are employed in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, physicians’ offices, clinics, and community agencies.

The curriculum for nursing is career-oriented. The program is accredited by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (800-669-9656).

The Associate Degree Nursing Program as part of Black Hawk College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The program is approved by the Illinois State Department of Professional Regulation. The program also has accreditation from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). This is an optional accreditation which validates that the program meets national standards for program excellence. For more information about NLNAC, contact NLNAC, 350 Hudson Street, New York, New York 10014 or phone 1-800-669-9656.
