GED & Spanish GED
The General Educational Development (GED) classes prepare students to take the tests required to earn the GED high school equivalency certificate. Preparation classes are offered in English, and also in Spanish based on student demand.
Enrollment Qualifications
- Students must reside in the Black Hawk College District
- Students must be at least 17 years of age or older and not enrolled in a K-12 school district. Sixteen-year-old students may enroll only with parental and K-12 school district permission.
- Youth GED classes (HS Credit/Youth GED) are designed for students ages 16 – 18. If you are unsure of which class section to attend, please visit the Youth GED page or inquire at the time of registration.
Schedules & RegistrationConvenient registration occurs throughout the semester. See
Class Schedules & Registration. A two – three hour assessment of reading and math levels during registration ensures accurate class placement. Classes may be held in a variety of locations including churches, businesses, schools, libraries, and housing projects. The major learning centers are located in East Moline, Rock Island, Aledo, Moline, and Kewanee. Class times and locations are subject to change based on enrollments. Click on

CostQualifying students attend the Black Hawk College preparation classes without cost. Students should note that there is a $35.00 fee to take the GED test. Please refer to the following links for test fees:
