American University and English as a Second Language Information ServiceThis site contains information about the American educational system. This is a good place to find out about how to apply to an American university.
On-line English GrammarThis site contains good grammatical information. The index makes searching for a specific grammar point very easily.
Dave’s ESL CaféThis is a general interest site. There are idioms, grammar points, cultural points, and key pals for students. There is a graffiti wall on which students can post messages, etc.
Lingua Center HomepageThis is a great site to start with because it contains links to so many other sites. It has a list of sites subdivided into grammar, reading, listening, speaking, and other (including TOEFL and colleges and universities).
ExchangeThis is a newsletter published by the Department of English as an International Language at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. It is a newsletter that publishes articles written by students of English as a second language. You will go to the Lingua Center Homepage and click on the box that is labeled Ex*Change.
The Internet TESOL JournalThis is another good general site. Students can access other sites through this page. Grammar, listening, reading, vocabulary are all listed as part of this site. There are also some sources of ideas and information for teachers.
Frizzy University NetworkStudents can get help with grammar, connect to reference materials, make friends from all over the world, learn about studying English in the U.S. and connect to other good ESL sites.
The Virtual English Language CenterAnother general ESL site. Lots of activities and lots of links.
Churchill HouseA good site for students interested in learning phrasal verbs. After student complete a brief registration form (the service is free), they will receive one phrasal verb per day. After five days a quiz is sent covering the verbs of the weeks.
Many ThingsThis site contains many games, puzzles, tongue twisters--many fun activities for English Language Learning.
Listening LabYou will need to have real time player to use this site. Many good choices for listening to lectures.
ESL GoldThis site contains free resources for both students and teachers. Students will find phrases for conversation, grammar explanations, picture dictionary, pronunciation exercises, business expressions, and more great links.
Links and Resources for ESL TeachersOnline Directory of ESL ResourcesThis database of ESL-related educational resources comes from the National Clearinghouse for Bilingual Education and the ERIC Clearinghouse on Languages and Linguistics, with funding from the US Department of Education's Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs and the Office of Educational Research and Improvement. The database can be searched by entering a keyword or using the hypertext index provided. Internet TESOL Journal
This journal presents useful ideas for the classroom. It is a monthly Web journal that was rated one of the top 500 sites overall on the World Wide Web. The site provides lesson plans, classroom activities and projects, and articles on teaching techniques. All previous issues of the journal can be accessed. The journal also accepts submissions of materials that are "of immediate practical use to ESL/EFL teachers."

ESL Super StoreThis site contains information on texts and materials from over 30 publishers.
Free EnglishA web site maintained by Eduverse Accelerated Leaning Systems, Inc. This company is dedicated to providing education available for free. Students can use the programs online or can download the programs.
TEFL Web JournalThis is a new on-line journal that contains practical advice for classroom teachers. The first issue contained information on textbook evaluation which included a "composite evaluation checklist "that could be adapted by teachers at any level.
