The ESL Program maintains a computer lab that consists of multimedia stations. Students have access to CD-ROM programs that provide practice in listening, speaking, reading, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and TOEFL preparation. Students also have access to the World Wide Web and to the many English sites found of the Web. Through the ESL program, students learn Microsoft Word and are required to type paragraphs and essays. The library's online catalogue and reference materials are easily available to the students through this lab.

The lab is carefully integrated into the curriculum. Students are given specific homework assignments which require them to use the resources provided by the lab. Students work on collaborative projects that require research and information exchange with classmates as well as students from other colleges. Students learn to evaluate websites and operate in the "virtual" classroom facilitated through WebCT. The ESL Program has made a commitment to use technology to enhance learning, thereby preparing students for academic success in the modern university.

Here is a description of some of the programs available to the students:

Azar Interactive
This grammar program goes along with the Azar grammar texts. It has audio exercises, video exercises, reading exercises and traditional grammar exercises. Students can choose the grammar point and the level of difficulty.

Grammar 3D
This is the CD that accompanies the Grammar Dimensions series. It contains exercises at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Pronunciation Power
This program will help students to improve their pronunciation of the individual sounds of English. Students can listen to the sound in individual words or in sentences. Students can record their voice.

Accent Coach
Like Pronunciation Power, this program helps students improve their pronunciation of the individual sounds of English. In addition, it contains several exercises that work on stress and intonation.

English Discoveries
This is a comprehensive program that contains 13 disks. There are disks for the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels of language proficiency. Students can access reading, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary through the program. The format is the same for all levels making this program very easy to use.

English Mastery
This is a comprehensive program that contains 2 disks. t is for intermediate and advanced level students. Students can read, listen, record their voices, and practice grammar points while learning about life in the United States.

Merit AV Software
Under this heading, students will find a group of programs that will help them practice writing, sentence structure, reading, and vocabulary.

TOEFL
Study for the computer-based test with the disk prepared by ETS.
