Successful Transfer
Most students experience successful transfer to a baccalaureate school by following one of the approaches presented below. Of course, all students are encouraged to consult with a faculty or academic advisor to plan coursework that will best meet their individual educational goals.

Approach 2: |
Approach 3: |
| Earn an Associate in Arts or Science or an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree at Black Hawk, requiring 62 - 64 semester hours. |
Complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core (IAI GECC)before transferring, requiring 37- 41 semester hours*. |
Select courses at Black Hawk that will help you satisfy general education requirements and major requirements at your transfer institution. |
*
Some institutions allow completion of the GECC after transfer.
Before selecting the approach that best meets your needs, consider these questions:
- How long do you plan to attend BHC?
- Do you wish to earn a degree from BHC?
- Have you determined a major, if so what is it?
- Have you selected a transfer institution?
- Do you have a date in mind that you wish to transfer?
- How will you finance your education?
If appropriate to your needs, you are encouraged to contact the Housing and Financial Aid offices at least a semester ahead of your term of entry to the transfer institution.

Transfer Opportunities for Career Students:
IMPORTANT NOTE for the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) career program degree or Associate in Liberal Studies (ALS) degree students: Some baccalaureate institutions accept these degrees for transfer. To ensure course transferability and to confirm the above degree options will best suit your educational goals, consult with a BHC advisor and the transfer institution of choice as early in your course selection process as possible.
