Black Hawk East College Foundation
The Black Hawk East College Foundation was incorporated as a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization during the first year of operation of the East Campus in 1968 for the purpose of creating a fund to help establish, maintain and support the East Campus of Black Hawk College and to provide for and carry on such other activities in connection therewith as may be necessary and convenient to allow the growth, expansion and development of the East Campus.
The mission of the Foundation is to be the primary support partner of the East Campus of Black Hawk College providing for and carrying on activities that facilitate the growth and development of the East Campus. |

The first project of the Foundation was to raise funds for a site for the establishment of a permanent campus and to establish a library at the new campus. In the years after the campus was established, the Foundation has provided support for the campus that includes scholarships, building projects, student apartments, equipment and many other special projects in order to enhance the educational experiences of the students at the East Campus of Black Hawk College. Currently the Foundation:
- Administers over $80,000 in scholarships for students at the East Campus.
- Owns and operates a 24-unit apartment building with a capacity for 84 residents immediately adjacent to the campus exclusively for East Campus students.
- Owns approximately 65 acres immediately adjacent to the East Campus and provides 50 of these acres for use by the College as an agronomy lab for nominal rent.
- Serves as co-trustee and future beneficiary of two trusts comprised of a total of approximately 160 acres in Stark County.
- Serves as co-trustee and beneficiary of a trust comprised of approximately 80 acres immediately adjacent to the East Campus. This trust was established in 2008.
- Conductes activities to raise awareness of the foundation including:
- Celebrity showmanship contest conducted in conjunction with the World Hog Festival Barrow Show, the largest event of the year in the Kewanee area.
- Scholarship banquet honoring benefactors of scholarships and recognizing student recipients of scholarships.
- Annual recognition reception honoring those who have supported the Foundation and the community.
- Tri-County Area Leaders Under 45 event conducted in partnership with the Kewanee Star Courier newspaper and the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce.
- Conducts fundraising activities including:
- Annual campaign within the community
- Annual employee campaign
- Major campaigns as appropriate
- Planned giving
