Coach Wallace - "BHE opened with a nice win on Wednesday night. East took a 51-43 lead into halftime. Cassandra Baker had 20 points. Robin Curleyhair had 16 and Karrie Quartz had 14 points with 12 of them the first half. Tania Hatathlie finished with 11. The team had 18 steals forcing Lincoln into multiple turnovers for the night. Cassandra, Robin, Dorothea, and Karrie, had 4, 4, 3, and 3 steals respectively. Karrie and Ryequel led the team in rebounds with 7 each. We had a lot of first game mistakes; 25 turnovers and poor rebounding but our depth was too much for them." |

Coach Wallace - "Depth was our key Wednesday night, Saturday was a different story. With 5 BHE basketball players playing in the VB district, the lack of depth and the depth of number 17 ranked DMACC did us in. Our guards played really well; forced a lot of turnovers. We had 16 steals. BHE led 31-27 at half. Des Moines knocked down the threes at the end of the game to get the win. We just got too tired towards the end and did not contest the 3's well enough. Ryequel, Dorothea, Cassandra and Breanna had 15, 15, 14, 12 respectively. Cassandra led the team with 12 boards, and Breanna led the team with 4 steals. Ryequel had another good shooting night hitting 6-12 shots, 3-7 from the 3 pt line." |

Black Hawk East opened the first game of their tournament running. BHE raced out to a 57-12 halftime lead and coasted to victory over Daley college entering their first collegiate season. Ryequel, Cassandra, Robin, Dorothea, Tania, and Brenna all had double digit scoring, while Kalee and Jocelyn added nine apiece. Our pressure half-court and full-court led to 20 steals and most of those led to assists and baskets. Kalee and Robin both had 5 assists while Cassandra, and Jocelyn led the team with steals. Robin turned in her second oustanding performance in a row shooting 8-9 from the floor and adding 6 boards 5 assists and 4 steals. Cassandra led the team with 12 boards. BHE takes on their 2nd ranked opponet Sunday at 4:00 when they host number 16 ranked Lincoln Trail in their final game of their tourney.
