If you help a senior with any part of their daily life, this class is custom made for you. You will explore the types of dementia and other diseases that afflict older adults. Learn how to work with challenges, mental and physical, to make life easier for you and the senior you care for. Chiropractic Front Office Management: Short-Term Training Program

You will learn to prepare for a position in the chiropractic office field as receptionist/front office personnel, with the ability to communicate with and answer questions from chiropractic patients. Dental Office Management: Short-term Certificate Training Program

A thoroughly trained receptionist is a valuable asset to a dental practice. Emphasis is placed on interpersonal and skill development in administrative functions such as reception, scheduling, filing, billing, patient relations, and dental terminology. As a dental receptionist you are responsible for the communications and image of a dental office. You will learn how to professionally greet patients whether on the phone or in person, ensure all forms are properly filled out and direct patients to the treatment area as quickly as possible. Learn to effectively receive and route all communications to the staff and dentist. A receptionist is both the first, and the last person patients see when they come for dental care. Learn how to make a good first impression!

Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Massage Part I & II

This 2-part course is designed to help you learn the art of specific pressure in a deep tissue massage. Common trigger points and their referral patterns will be discussed. Learn simple techniques to relieve upper body complaints of headache, neck and shoulder tension, and different shoulder pains.

Dialysis Technician

In just 14 weeks you’ll be on your way to a new career! This course prepares you with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in the field of hemodialysis. You will learn to operate kidney dialysis machines, which filter normal waste products and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer perform this function. You will provide direct patient care working in collaboration with nurses, physicians, and other allied health professionals, caring for patients needing renal dialysis due to renal diseases.

Through this non-invasive Negative Energy Releasing process, you'll experience a release of anxiety,
anger, grief, stress, addictions, and insomnia. Ethics for Massage Therapists

Medical Receptionist: Short-Term Training Program

Make every patient feel welcomed as they walk into a medical office. This class is for anyone interested in a position as a front office receptionist or for anyone already employed as a receptionist and would like to enhance your professional skills. You will be introduced to business and work ethics, customer and patient relations, scheduling and records management and confidentiality. Learn exercises in judgment, independent action, and coping graciously with interruptions. Introduction to Spanish phrases and role-playing will be included. You are required to complete 1.5 hours in the Career Services Center completing a resume.

Optical Training: Skills and Procedures
Short-Term Training Certificate Program

  • Enjoy working with people and your hands, and ability to offer excellent customer service.
  • Learn basic knowledge in ophthalmic optics in this 46-hour course which includes aspects of spectacle lenses, frames, definitions, adjustments, dispensing of eye wear, understanding a spectacle prescription, and troubleshooting common optical problems. You will learn how to dispense contact lenses, proper insertion and removal techniques. Learn how to open and close a sale, front office procedures, customer service and telephone etiquette.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Preparation

This fast paced, advanced course prepares you for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Learn basic pharmacology, advanced pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology. Studies focus on the exam’s three aspects of competency:
  • Assisting the Pharmacist in serving patients
  • Maintaining medication and inventory control systems
  • Administering and managing a pharmacy
This course does not replace the national exam. You will receive information on certification, testing requirements, and testing sites in class.

Phlebotomy Technician

Prerequisites:
  • Age 18 and G.E.D. or high school diploma.
  • Current statement of good health from your physician and documented negative TB testing performed within 3 months prior to the start of the class.
  • Hepatitis B vaccinations are not required but strongly recommended.
  • Your are required to perform 20 venipunctures.

Train in the basic blood drawing procedures for venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques. You will have an understanding of the skills, knowledge, and level of responsibility required to perform competently as entry-level Phlebotomy/lab personnel.

Physical Therapy Aide: Short-term Certificate Training Program

This course is designed to prepare you to enter a Physical Therapy department and perform duties as an entry level Physical Therapy Aide. Learn the history of Physical Therapy, PT medical terminology, sanitation, scheduling of clients, taking and receiving of phone calls, body mechanics, therapeutic exercise, gait and mobility, assistive devices, transferring of a patient/client, positioning of a patient, and physical modality set-up and delivery. Professionalism, work/school attendance, and hands on techniques are emphasized.

You will be expected to complete 3 hours of a job shadow event in a physical therapy department of your choice, prior to the end of course. Homework, testing, and lab will be required weekly.

Reflexology Therapist

This course does not claim to treat, diagnose or prescribe.
Prerequisite: Age 18 and a G.E.D. or high school diploma.(100 theory hours, 100 practicum, students required to schedule outside of class.) Take a step in the right direction toward a new career as a Reflexologist. In just 14 weeks you will learn a variety of therapeutic techniques on the feet, hands and ears that have been affected by stress, injury and illness. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology will be the emphasis of the course. Body mechanics for injury prevention, ethics and clinical are included.

You will explore all the many duties that a veterinary assistant typically performs to prepare you for an entry level position as a veterinary assistant. Employment opportunities include: private practice, animal shelter, animal control facilities, pet stores, kennels, zoos and veterinary drug companies.
Topics include:
  • Vaccinations, surgery preparation and assisting, monitoring vitals
  • Laboratory procedures, parasites, client communications, prescriptions
  • Safely restraining an animal for blood draws, ex-rays and injections
  • Routine examination, medication, and euthanasia
  • Front office procedures for a veterinary clinic/hospital
  • Professional practices, resume creation and interviewing tips
