Oil Painting Made Simple

Villages lost in time will be the theme as well as still lifes. Anyone can learn to paint and become proficient in this technique. A $15 materials fee is payable to the instructor the first night of class. Paint sets and canvases (16" x 20") 6 each, are available from an art or hobby store. Please bring a roll of paper towels and a coffee can for odorless paint thinner. No turpentine is allowed as the fumes are toxic.

Anyone Can Learn to Draw, Pt. 1

For the non-art student.
This class will put emphasis on seven simple rules for drawing 3-dimensional objects on the paper's 2-dimensional surface. Please bring to the first class: 2 or 3 sharpened school pencils with erasers on the ends, and a spiral bound sketchbook at least 8" x 10".

Watercolor Painting Landscapes - Winter
Instructor: P. Gromm
Stay warm and cozy as you take on winter landscapes. If you think winter is simply gray & brown, we have a color palette for you. You will work with washes that establish the warm glow of light against the winter snow. Bring a tablet of 140 lb. watercolor paper (9" x 12" or greater), school pencil, kneaded eraser, and a #8 round paintbrush. A limited paint list will be given at the first class.

Japanese Art of Flower Arranging
Instructor: M. Shearer
Learn the art of Japanese flower arranging from a licensed instructor from the oldest Ikebana school in Japan. Ikebana is Japanese art of arranging flowers, and has developed many distinctive styles. Learn a few of the styles and how to arrange fresh flowers, branches, and foliage of the season by creating lines and space. The first night of class bring scissors or a clipper, a large and shallow vase with an opening with 10” diameter or larger with 3-4” depth, and a
Kenzan Flower Holder Pin Frog, 3” or larger. Please purchase the
Kenzan via a website as they cannot be purchased locally. A $40 materials fee is payable to the instructor the first night of class.

Go Green in Floral
Instructor: P. Paulsen
Learn basic floral design using all dried natural ingredients. Create a wreath with lavender, hydrangeas and bay leaves, a swag with eucalyptus and twigs, a moss covered basket arrangement using dried fruits and vegetables. Bring the outdoors in for those long winter months. Bring a pair of wire cutters and scissors to class. A materials fee of $125 is payable to the instructor the first night of class.

Stand Strong! Stop the Bullying (grades 3-5, girls and boys)

To empower students to fight back against the growing problem of peer aggression, commonly known as Bullying, this class will participate in a special curriculum developed by American Girl®. Learn ways in which people bully and identify the roles in aggression (the bully, the target, and the bystander, or the “kid in the middle”). The goal of this class is to promote a safe, kind, and respectful environment for your child. One person can make a difference. Pass it on!
