The Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois Community College Board have implemented this program to increase the number of minorities, women, and disadvantaged individuals working on IDOT highway construction projects. If you’re interested in a career in construction, this program is for you! The training is an intensive 36 hours per week, 13-week program, that addresses the skills necessary for working in the highway construction trades: math skills, job readiness skills, safety, technical construction skills, tool use, forklift, construction equipment and machine operation.
There is no cost to participants accepted into this program.
Completion of the HCCTP training does not guarantee employment.
1. Attend orientation
2. Take math/reading assessment
4. Pass drug test
• Valid driver’s license
• 18 years or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Interest in working in the construction trades
• Drug-free (test)
