Black Hawk College participates in the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity ETIP grant. Last year the college returned $40,000 to area businesses based on employee training completed by the Business Training Center.
The ETIP grant encourages workforce training for new and ongoing skill improvement. Businesses located in Illinois may be eligible for up to 50% of training cost reimbursement for approved training costs. Eligible training activities for customized training projects include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Training programs required to respond to new or changing technologies, processes, product lines, machinery or equipment being introduced in the workplace
- Training necessary to implement continuous improvement systems in the workplace, including quality certifications
- Training related to regulatory compliance issues mandated for the workplace
- Training of employees in skills necessary to enable the company to establish, maintain or expand into new export markets
