Coach Gary Huber – I began my coaching career as the Men’s Golf Coach in the fall of 1999. Duane Chanay, Region IV Hall of Famer and former Head Golf Coach, retired after his 1999 spring season. I decided to revisit my coaching career one year at a time and 11 years later, I’m still coaching and enjoying my time with the players, my colleagues, and the competition that comes along with the game of golf.
I am assisted by Mark Grchan (former Moline HS graduate) and Tyler Pitlik (Rock Island). Mark graduated from Black Hawk, Cameron University, and earned his Master’s degree at Western Illinois University. I met Mark in 1990 when I was the Head baseball coach at Black Hawk College. He was a left handed pitcher on the Black Hawk Baseball Team and one of our premier hitters. Mark has been my Assistant Golf Coach since 2002.
Tyler Pitlik is currently attending Western Illinois University earning his degree in business. Tyler participated on the Black Hawk Golf Team from 2006 through 2008. He was a two time National team qualifier, All Region IV, and All Arrowhead Conference Award winner. Tyler’s expertise in the game of golf is greatly
advantageous to the Golf Program.
