Dear Aggie Alumni,
Happy Holidays! You are invited to the Annual Aggie Alumni Banquet on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Wise Guys, 2205 N. Main Street, in Princeton, Ill. We are excited about the new location and other changes in store for you as well.
We will be holding a live auction and a raffle. Last year’s auction brought in $4,317 for the Black Hawk East Agri-Business Club Alumni to use to help Black Hawk East students and ag programs. We would greatly appreciate your support of the raffle and live auction items. If you aren’t able to make it, but would like to send a monetary donation, please contact Jon Wolf (309-854-1727 or e-mail at wolfj@bhc.edu) or Tammy Pelz (309-231-2920 or e-mail at tammypelz@mchsi.com). Proceeds from this year’s banquet will be used to help fund ag faculty grant requests for student activities. Also, a special 50/50 drawing will be held.
The evening’s events will be as follows:
- 5:30-6:30 p.m. – Registration & Social Hour
- 6:30-7:30 p.m. – Meal (Two-Meat Buffet)
- 7:30-8 p.m. – Annual Business Meeting & Awards
- 8-8:45 p.m. – Elvis Impersonator
- 8:45-9 p.m. – Live Auction
- 9-Midnight – Rodeo Drive Band
A short business meeting will be held following dinner in order to present the alumni awards, elect a slate of officers and board members and vote on changes of the Bylaws. Bylaw revisions can be found by accessing the link found in the left sidebar of this page. We will be acknowledging the 25th anniversary class of 1987 and the 35th anniversary class of 1977 with introductions and a complimentary meal for those in attendance. We will also be recognizing the classes of 1997 and 2007.
Did you hear about the 501(c)(3)? The Agri-Business Club Alumni (ABCA) is proud to announce its recent affiliation with the Black Hawk College East Foundation. By affiliating with the Foundation, the ABCA will be recognized as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, making donation to the ABDA tax deductible, as allowed by law. This partnership will benefit both organizations in the future through increased revenue opportunities in support of the ABCA and Black Hawk College East Campus agriculture programs.
In honor of Mr. Aupperle’s retirement in 1988, the alumni set up the E.R. “Bud” Aupperle Recognition Education Fund to support the Black Hawk College International Agricultural Education Program. The program helps fund international experiences for Black Hawk College agriculture students. Your donations are welcome. Please make checks payable to: Aupperle Recognition Fund. Thank you!
Annual dues continue to be $10 and life dues are just $100 (you can make one to four payments). Special rates are available for husband/wife life memberships. New members will be given an “Aggie Alumni” decal. The annual banquet and dues are the only sources of income for keeping the organization running, so please come and support our efforts! If you can’t attend, your financial support or auction donations would be greatly appreciated.
An advanced registration sheet is enclosed. Save $5 and register early by returning the closed document by Friday, January 20, 2012 to Jon Wolf at Black Hawk College East campus. Payment for dinner at the door is possible for $30 per person plus minimum $10 annual dues (for Non-Life Members), though a limited number of meals will be at this rate and will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Alumni are welcome to join us after dinner by paying $10 dues and $15 cover charge. Please send in your reservations as early as possible. If you cannot attend, please return the sheet with your annual and/or life dues. If you have a new address or change of address, please indicate it on your form as well!
Hotel Accommodations: A group block has been established at the AmericInn in Princeton (815-872-5000). Please mention Black Hawk East Ag Alumni for the code to get the group rate of $89.99.
