The Adult Education program matches volunteer tutors with adults who need help with reading, math, spelling and writing and assists persons in developing their literacy skills up to the 9th grade academic skill level.
Volunteers are needed to help adults needing assistance in achieving functional skills in reading, spelling, writing, arithmetic or English as a Second Language. The opportunity provides a second chance to adults who have not yet attained their desired or needed literacy level.
• You must either live or work in Illinois.
• 17 years or older.
• Not currently enrolled in high school or secondary education/college.
• You must read at a 9th grade reading level or below.
There is no cost for qualified students.
