Black Hawk College offers literacy programs for family and youth.
The Family Literacy classes provide Adult Basic, GED or English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to qualifying parents while providing instruction for children and parent/child activities.
The Literacy is for Everyone (LIFE) program matches volunteer tutors with adults who need help with reading, math, spelling and writing and assists persons in developing their literacy skills up to the 9th grade academic skill level.
“This project was made possible by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds designated for literacy.”
It is being implemented by the dedicated services of volunteers and staff members from various collaborates, the University of Illinois, the Moline, East Moline, and Kewanee Public Library Systems, and the Literacy and Adult Education Offices of Black Hawk College.
