The refund schedule for each semester is based on the number of weeks each course meets. Generally speaking, classes that meet between seven and 16 weeks have a two-week refund period. After that time there is a zero percent refund.
To receive the following percentage of tuition and fees:
- 100% – Drop your course before the term begins.
- 75% – Through the seventh calendar day of the term counting the first day of the term as day one.
- 50% – You must drop your course between the eighth and 14th day of the term.
|Term Meets||100% Refund||75% Refund||50% Refund||No Refund|
|7-16 weeks||Prior to the first calendar day of the term start day||Less or equal to the 7th calendar day of the term start day||Equal to and between the 8th to the 14th calendar day of term start date||Equal to the 15th calendar day of term and after|
|3-6 weeks||Prior to the first calendar day of the term start day||Less or equal to the 3rd calendar day of the term start day||Equal to and between the 4th to the 6th calendar day of term start date||Equal to the 7th calendar day of term and after|
|1-2 weeks||Prior to the first calendar day of the term start day||Not available||Not available||Equal to and after the first day of term|
The deadline may be on the weekend. You may e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. If the date stamp on your email is before the deadline, it will be processed on the next business day as if dropped by the deadline.
Check your myBlackHawk account within a day or two to be sure the drop was processed.
Important note – You may exchange the same number of credit hours during this refund period at no additional charge. Example: If you drop ENG 101 and add PSYC 101, you won’t owe any additional tuition or fees.
Refund appeal process
If you have extenuating circumstances regarding your refund, submit a refund appeal. It must be submitted no later than the last published day of finals. Submissions for current term only, not previous terms.
