Online Classes Through ICE: Non-BHC Students
Each semester, students from other Illinois community colleges enroll in online classes at Black Hawk College through ICE. ICE stands for “Internet Course Exchange” and is a service created by a consortium (ILCCO) of 23 community colleges willing to share their online courses with each other. If you have registered for a course through your local community college, but are actually enrolled through BHC, this page is designed to assist you in taking our online class:
Books
The ICE contact person at your college will give you course information when you register. Notice the BHC course and section number (e.g., BIOL 120, 11W). If you are in a section number 01W, 02W (Fall), 11W, 12W (Spring), or 31W or 32W (Summer), go to our QC campus online book ordering URL. If you are in a section number 60W (Fall) or 70W (Spring), go to our East campus online book ordering URL instead. You may order the book from these sites and have it shipped to you, or you can collect the book info and order it from your local college bookstore or online. Caution: Be careful to copy the correct ISBN number, as it dictates what to order in addition to the book, such as an access code for your course site or other supplementary material.
Instructor contact
Your instructor will email you a few days before classes start with instructions on how and when to begin your class. If you have not heard from your instructor by the first day of class, contact Andrew Olson for assistance, the BHC contact person for ICE.
Canvas
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) that most online courses use at BHC. See the Help button inside of Canvas for step-by-step instructions for many tasks. Login information below. Please do not expect to login before the 1st day of class.
Non-BHC Students (students from other community college) DO NOT log in through myBlackHawk. Instead, please:
1. Go to http://learn.bhc.edu
2. Enter your User Name & Password
User Name: The email address your community college has on record.
Password: Your student ID at your community college. If your student ID includes letters, symbols, and/or numbers include them.
Disclaimer: We use the email address and student ID that your institution provides us. If you do not know your email address or student ID, please contact your institution to verify the information they provided us. We will not provide this information to you or anyone. For other issues, you may contact Andrew Olson 309-796-5046 or olsona@bhc.edu.
