What software and equipment will I need to take an online course?
In general, you will need access to a computer, an Internet connection, a Web browser (software), and word processing software. If you have trouble with Canvas, you may want to make sure your browser is up to date or try another Canvas recommended browsers (Links to an external site.)

It is always a good idea to have a backup plan in case of equipment failure. Most libraries have Internet access, for example, or you may have a neighbor or friend you can call on in the event of technical problems that prevent you from accessing your course or turning in assignments. The Black Hawk College computer labs are also available during open lab hours. Having this planned ahead of time can lots of stress later!
