Music Achievement Awards are available for both music majors and non-music majors. Awards are given in quarter, half, three-quarter, or full tuition waivers. Award winners must be full-time students, be in at least two ensembles each semester, and be willing to monitor our Music Lab on a weekly basis. Maintaining a 3.0 in all music courses and a 2.4 overall grade point average is also required to retain the award.
Application Information
All awards require a completed application, one letter of reference from a music teacher/mentor, and an on-site audition. Interested students must first complete an Music Achievement Award Application and send it back to Mr. Jon Palomaki as soon as possible. Applications can either be sent by e-mail attachment to palomakij@bhc.edu or be sent by U.S. mail to: Mr. Jon Palomaki, Professor of Music Black Hawk College 6600 34th Avenue Moline, IL 61265
Audition Information
Auditions take place three times during the academic year for the upcoming fall semester: mid-March, mid-May, and early July. Other special auditions can be arranged at the music faculty’s discretion. Once an application is received, someone will contact you regarding a specific audition date and time. For the audition, students will need to provide their own accompanist, if needed, or they may perform without accompaniment.
