As part of the Global Gathering West Africa program at the Bettendorf Public Library, staff from the Teranga House of Africa in Rock Island, the Teranga Drum Circle, and members of the Black Hawk College African Student Association modeled fashions from various African countries, demonstrated how to fold the scarves used for head coverings, played drums and talked about the instruments and the history of drumming, and provided small samples of African food.


More than 900 talented and gifted students entering grades 6-9 spent a week this summer at the Quad-Cities Campus for the 33rd College for Kids program.
