Hands-on health career exploration for grades 8-12

Health Career Pathway Program LogoStudents in grades 8-12 are invited to get hands-on experience exploring health care careers in the new Health Sciences Center at Black Hawk College.

For two Saturday mornings – Feb. 25 and March 4 – students will learn how to draw blood using a mannequin arm, take blood pressure readings
on each other and interact with simulated patients in a mock hospital room.

Presented by Black Hawk College health sciences instructors, the Health Career Pathway Program will introduce teens to these careers:

  • Medical assistant
  • CNA (certified nursing assistant)
  • LPN (licensed practical nurse)
  • RN (registered nurse)
  • EMT (emergency medical technician)
  • Physical therapist assistant

The Health Career Pathway Program will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Students will attend three classes Feb. 25 and three different classes March 4.
