Students share native dishes in first International Food Competition

Dish from Burma served at the International Food CompetitionThe English as a Second Language Mentor and Mentee Program, the International Student Association and ESL students hosted an International Food Competition at the Quad-Cities Campus.

BHC students and employees prepared dishes from their home countries that ranged from savory entrees to sweet desserts. Attendees were able to sample more than 20 dishes and vote for their favorites.

The winners were:

  • 1st place – Paw Susu from Kaw Thoo Lei (Karen state, Burma)
  • 2nd place – Bernice Gunaseelan from India
  • 3rd place – Ruan Hnem and Tial Sung from Burma
  • 4th place – Amadou Ndiaye from Senegal

Sixteen countries were represented in the competition – Albania, Brazil, Burma, Congo, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Iran, Ireland, Mexico, Paraguay, Senegal, Taiwan, Tanzania, Togo and Turkey.
