In July 2014, Osterhaus was tabbed to be the lead assistant for the women’s program. Osterhaus came to Black Hawk College after spending four seasons as the head sophomore coach at Rockridge High School.
This season, she has led the daily coaching, including all game day responsibilities. The Braves have an overall record of 9-15 and are 2-7 in the Arrowhead Conference.
“I believe Danielle Osterhaus is a great addition to the Black Hawk College women’s basketball program,” athletic director Gary Huber said.
“She has done a good job with the ladies who are on this year’s team, and we have a very good group returning from this year’s group,” he said.
Danielle (Widdop) Osterhaus played at Black Hawk College from 2001-03. During that time, the team posted a combined record of 48 wins and 19 losses, won two Arrowhead Conference Championships and won one Region IV Championship.
“The timing of this decision is based on the great job she has done this year, and Coach Osterhaus is currently recruiting for next year’s Black Hawk College team,” Huber said.
“I want us to have a competitive program enriched with local athletes,” Osterhaus said. “The Quad-City high schools and surrounding area high schools have a tremendous amount of talent.”
