Black Hawk College Athletic Director Gary Huber is pleased to announce that Darren Bizarri, head men’s basketball coach for the Quad-Cities Campus Braves, is now also the head coach for the Quad-Cities Campus women’s basketball team.
Bizarri will oversee the operation of the Braves women’s program, including all the administrative details such as scheduling and leading recruiting efforts. Danielle Osterhaus has been hired as the lead assistant for the women’s program.
While Bizarri will participate in coaching in practices on a daily basis, Osterhaus will lead the daily coaching, including all game day responsibilities.
“I’m excited to continue to be a part of building the women’s program,” Bizarri said.
“Danielle is a great choice as the lead assistant. She is passionate about basketball and will push the women to be better basketball players and help us have a strong women’s program,” he said.
Osterhaus comes to Black Hawk College after spending four seasons as the head sophomore coach at Rockridge High School. She played at Black Hawk College from 2001-03. In her two seasons with the Braves, the team posted a combined record of 48 wins and 19 losses.
“I am excited about joining the Black Hawk College women’s basketball program,” she said. “I want us to have a competitive program enriched with local athletes. The Quad-City high schools and surrounding area high schools have a tremendous amount of talent.”
Athletic director Huber also is excited about the pairing of Bizarri and Osterhaus.
“I am confident that Coach Bizarri and Coach Osterhaus will guide our student-athletes to be successful on the court and in the classroom,” he said.
