On July 30, Black Hawk College welcomed trustees from three community colleges to the Quad-Cities Campus in Moline for the Illinois Community College Trustees Association West Central Region meeting.
The group discussed regional concerns such as MAP grant funding, Pell grants, interest rates on student loans and continuing contact with U.S. Representatives Cheri Bustos and Aaron Schock.
“It was a pleasure to meet with our western Illinois counterparts and discuss issues that impact our institutions,” said David Emerick, chair of the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees.
There are five colleges in the West Central Region – Black Hawk College, Carl Sandburg College, Illinois Central College, John Wood Community College and Spoon River College.
Attending the meeting were representatives from:
- Black Hawk College – Dorothy Beck, Tim Black, David Emerick, Kylee Fox, Donna Frye, Douglas Strand, Dr. Thomas Baynum, Dr. Bettie Truitt and Karen Mowers
- Illinois Central College – James Polk and Patty Polk
- John Wood Community College – Reggie Coleman and Dr. John Letts
- Spoon River College – Dave Maguire and Curtis Oldfield
In attendance from ICCTA were Bob Johnson, Stephanie Spann and Kim Villanueva.
