Black Hawk College recently revitalized its food pantry for students at the Quad-Cities Campus with a friendly competition.

Employees were divided into teams and challenged to donate as many items as possible in a 10-day period. The winning team got to lob a homemade coconut cream pie at Dr. Dick Vallandingham, vice president for student services and dean of students.

The 15 teams collected more than 4,000 items for the pantry. The winning team collected 1,018 items. Lu Bealer, database administrator and leader of Team 4, had the pleasure of creaming Dr. Vallandingham.
