Soups and Stews
Instructor: S. Godke

Learn to make soups with different bases and ingredients in this hands-on class. Learn to thicken your soups in four different ways. Be ready to sample the work, and be sure to bring a container to take home some soup or stew for the next day’s lunch. Fee includes materials.

Know Your Knives
Instructor: S. Godke

Bring your favorite knives and learn how to hone them and hold them. Practice mincing, dicing and chopping. Then we will make a few recipes to use our handy work. Be ready to sample! Fee includes materials.

Spring Menu
Instructor: S. Godke

Learn to create a menu using the freshest spring ingredients, from the first veggies of the season to young fresh herbs. Make a full meal with soup, salad, entrée and dessert. Recipes will be shared, prepared and sampled in this hands-on course.

BUS TRIPS FOR FOODIES!
Instructor: S. Godke

Wear your walking shoes and dress for the weather! These trips will take you to some of Chicago’s finest markets and hidden gourmet shops. The bus will leave from the northeast corner of the Black Hawk College Outreach Center parking lot at 7 a.m. and return at approximately 8 p.m. We will stop for a dutch lunch during our excursion and picnic on some of our purchases on the bus ride home. Bring a shopping list of items you can’t find at home or just get inspired by what is fresh in the markets! Bring a cooler or insulated container for your purchases. It’s a fun adventure for food enthusiasts.

Chef Stephanie Godke has worked in and around the restaurant industry for more than 25 years and brings more than a decade of experience teaching chefs and culinary students the tricks of the trade. She is locally known for her cooking segments on the Paula Sands Live show, as well as her monthly classes with Mississippi River Distilling Company. Chef Stephanie is a certified member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals.
