Prerequisite: Age 18 and GED or high school diploma. Ability to assist and lift peers from the ground onto a table during practice. Must be willing to participate with giving and receiving 12 lead hook-ups. Ability to bend, lift, stoop, twist, turn, and stand on your feet for extended periods.
Learn to function as an EKG Technician.
Topics will include:
• 12-Lead EKG
• Set-up in a hospital or office setting
• Anatomy of the heart
• Physiology and medical disease processes
• Medical terminology
• Medical ethics and legal aspects of patient contact
• Blood-borne pathogens
• Heart medications
Required textbook must be purchased at the Hawk’s Hub (the college bookstore) prior to first class. Exam certification available.
