Black Hawk College Community String Orchestra

The BHC Community String Orchestra is a non-auditioned group of men and women who enjoy playing an orchestral stringed instrument. Community members from all walks of life and with advancing ability are invited to participate alongside high school students and the BHC credit-seeking students in this fun, learning environment. Orchestra members will rehearse and perform a wide range of accessible string orchestra literature each term.

Black Hawk College Community Jazz Band

The BHC Community Jazz Band is seeking wind players, pianists, guitarists, bassists and drummers. The group plays instrumental jazz and popular music styles from the 1940s to the present, with an emphasis on small group playing. Members are encouraged to develop improvisation skills as they learn jazz standards in various styles. Any instrumentalist is welcome to join. The community band is offered to musicians within the Quad Cities community. It is a combination of college band students and community band performers. The band plays a variety of band music from all periods of music composition.

Black Hawk College Community Chorale

The BHC Community Chorale is a non-auditioned group comprised of men and women of all ages who enjoy singing. Retired people, working people, along with traditional-aged college students and some high school students help to create a truly multi-generational ensemble. The group rehearses and performs a variety of accessible music each term and it stresses a fun learning environment while working together on the essentials of good choral sound.
