Black Hawk College raised more than $21,000 for United Way this year.
Quad-Cities Campus – United Way Campaign 2011
This year’s United Way campaign was a huge success. We raised over $10,800! Our total represents employee pledges, silent auction proceeds, and cash donations from our Thanksgiving celebration.
- More than $1,000 was raised by the silent auction and donations at the Thanksgiving celebration.
- Our amount raised and total number of employee donors exceeded 2009 and 2010.
- 26 new donors made pledges this year.
- More than $1,200 was pledged to the BHC Foundation.
The list of successes is large, and that’s because of the remarkable employees at Black Hawk College. Thank you for your support of such a worthy cause. LIVE UNITED.

East Campus – United Way Campaign 2011
The Black Hawk College East Campus community raised $10,701 this year for the Kewanee Area United Way, an increase in giving for the 17th straight year.
“Caring and compassion are important values for all of us who are part of the college community.” said Paula Luft, United Way Team member.
Students, employees and community supporters raised money through direct giving and fundraisers, including a produce sale, A Yard Sale Like No Other, Equine Speed Show, Pumpkin Auction, Trick-or-Treat Trail pictures, Happy Joe’s and Cerno’s food sales, a book sale and Hands Supporting UW.
College groups making donations or sponsoring fundraisers included the Student Government Association, ag/auto mechanics students, equine students, ag production students, board members of the Black Hawk College East Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa honor society, the Horticulture Club, the Learning Resource Center, and the IFT and UAW employee unions.
Student giving and fundraisers made up more than one half of all funds raised.
