BHC students and employees generously supported this year’s Angel Tree at the Quad-Cities Campus. Their donations will make the holidays a little brighter for 61 children of BHC students.
Twenty-five BHC students registered their children for the Angel Tree.
Tomina Crowe of Moline, an administrative assisting major, registered her four children — ages 7, 8, 13 and 14 — for the Angel Tree for the first time.
“It was perfect timing because we are struggling with our utility bills. We are limited on funds for Christmas,” she said.
Sophia Clay of Moline, a social work major, has three children — a 9-month-old, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old.
“I really appreciate them and everything they’ve done for us” she said of the Angel Tree donors.
Nursing major Christine Kotaska of Moline is the mother of a 4-year-old.
“I want to say ‘Thank you.’ It really does help,” she said. “It’s really hard working when you’re in the nursing program. We’re very thankful.”
“Thank you!” said fellow nursing major Rebecca Mendoza of Rock Island, a single mother who works 36 hours a week and goes to school full-time.
“It’s really hard to work full-time and make money for school,” she said.
Koffi Sessenou, a computer science major, moved to the Quad Cities from the West African nation of Togo in 2005. His two boys — ages 4 and 6 — each will receive a new bike and winter coat from Angel Tree donors.
“I (am) very excited. I thank very much the people who donate,” he said.
The Angel Tree was sponsored by Sisterhood on Campus.
