Dr. William Duffy, senior vice president for academic extension at Upper Iowa University, and Dr. Michael Rivera, dean of instruction and student learning at Black Hawk College, sign the articulation agreement between the two schools.
Black Hawk College and Upper Iowa University recently signed an articulation agreement that will make it easier for BHC students to transfer to Upper Iowa University to complete a bachelor’s degree.
“Black Hawk College is pleased to collaborate with Upper Iowa in the development of this additional path for our students,” said Dr. Michael Rivera, dean of instruction and student learning at Black Hawk College.
“Partnerships with universities provide a critical linkage and offering to our constituents by increasing access to higher education right here at home,” he said.
While the Upper Iowa University campus is located in Fayette, Iowa, the school recently opened a new educational center in Bettendorf and offers online courses.
“Upper Iowa University believes in successful partnerships with community colleges in order to ensure a smooth transition into UIU to complete a four-year degree,” said Dr. Alan G. Walker, president of Upper Iowa University.
“I know from personal experience the value of community colleges. I had my first academic success earning a degree from a community college,” he said.
