A Look at Sherman’s March

Presenter: Dr. Arthur Pitz

In the midst of the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Civil War, well-known local historian and professor Dr. Arthur Pitz takes a look at the capture of Atlanta followed by Sherman’s controversial March to the Sea in the fall of 1864. What impact did this bold move have on the outcome of the war? What were the results? Join us for lunch at The Lodge and an enticing look at some of the lesser known history of our country.

Quad City International Airport – Through the Years

In 1910, a Rock River valley pasture known as Franing Field was selected for the first coast-to-coast flight by U.S. Army planes. Since that time, numerous changes have led to what is now the Quad City International Airport, resulting in a significant impact on the travel industry in the area. Join QCIA marketing director Cathie Rochau and local historian Dave Coopman as we take a look at the airport then and now.
