Food Service Manager Course

Food Service Sanitation Manager Course

Class meets new state requirements and is designed to prepare students for the FSSMC exam for the State of Illinois. Class can also be taken by students from Iowa. An optional ServSafe book will be sold in class for $5. Separate payment (checks payable to Black Hawk College – no cash please) for optional book will be collected at first class. Certification examination will be given at the end of the last day of class. Please read all of the information regarding the class to determine whether you would be taking an online exam or not. Class will break for a 30-minute lunch each day (on your own). Please bring a current photo ID to class.

Classes below are for those individuals who have experience in the food industry and currently have an Illinois FSSMC license:

Food Handler Training – Online

Food handlers may take the online ServSafe Food Handler Course and Assessment in the computer lab at the Outreach Center. There is no instructor in the lab. You work on your own through the course and assessment and have the option of taking the online program in English or Spanish. Please bring ear buds with you as to not disturb others and a current photo ID to class.

Food Handler Training – Instructor Led

If you are not interested in taking the course and assessment online, another option is the instructor-led class. The ServSafe Food Handler Guide is included with the cost of the class. You will take a 40-question assessment at the end of class. Please bring a current photo ID to class.
