Class is designed to prepare students for certification examination in food service for the State of Illinois. Please bring paper and a #2 pencil to class. An optional textbook will be sold in class for $20. Separate payment (checks payable to Black Hawk College – no cash please) for optional textbook will be collected at first class. Certification examination will be given during the last class which will meet from 6 – 8 p.m.

5-Hour Refresher Seminar on Food Codes

(Course meets state requirements for 5-hour renewal.)
Need a refresher, review or simply an update on recent changes in the food code? New holding times, revised cooking temperatures, receiving, storage, and preparation information will be stressed. Please bring to class a menu from your food establishment, your Food Service Sanitation license number, paper and a #2 pencil. Class will break for ½-hour lunch (on your own).

If your Food Service license has not expired you can renew your license by:
• Taking the 5-Hour Refresher on Food Codes or
• Taking the Food Service Sanitation 2-Day Seminar (no test required). Ask the instructor for the state verification process.
If your license has expired or will expire by the time of the class, you must take either the 6 week or 2-day Food Service Certification class.
