Keyboarding
Instructor: D. Jecks
Level 0 – Learn how to touch-type (type text without looking at your keyboard) with the help of an instructor and Keyboarding Pro, a typing tutorial software that includes lessons, activities and educational games. Whether you are a beginner or want to improve your keyboarding skills, this class will help you type faster, improve your accuracy and become more productive. By the end of the course, you will know how to touch-type letters, numbers and symbols. A workbook is included in the fee.

Computer Basics
Instructor: M. DeGrauwe
Level 0 – Start at the very beginning. Learn how to log into your computer, shut down your computer correctly, minimize and maximize your program windows, and navigate/arrange program commands on the Start menu. You also will find files, utilize the toolbar, save files and much more. This class will include a short introduction to word processing (Word) and spreadsheets (Excel). A Windows 7 reference guide is included in the fee.

Windows 8

Prerequisite: Keyboarding skills
Level 1 – Have you just acquired a new computer with Windows 8 as the operating system and need help to discover its many simple and powerful features? Learn to work your way through the operating system. This session will demonstrate the features making it easy to follow and understand. A Windows 8 reference guide is included in the fee.

Introduction to Excel 2010

Prerequisite: Basic computer skills
Level 1 – Learn to use the power of Microsoft’s spreadsheet program and beginning concepts of building a worksheet including how to use the toolbar; create, edit, save, format and print worksheets; enter labels, values and formulas. A workbook is included in the fee.

Intermediate Excel 2010

Prerequisite: Introduction to Excel or Excel Level 1
Level 2 – Continue to enhance your spreadsheet skills with this class. Learn how to use advanced formulas, sort and filter data, customize the Ribbon, name ranges, create charts, insert graphics and more. A workbook is included in the fee.

Buying on eBay
Instructor: E. Duffy
Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and an existing email account are required.
Level 1 – Learn how to find your way through eBay. Browse for bargains, learn how to bid, learn bidding strategies and why use Buy It Now. After you are notified to be the winner – what’s next? How do you pay, what is PayPal, is there insurance, what if your item doesn’t meet expectations and what about privacy?

Selling on eBay

Prerequisite: Basic computer skills and an existing email account are required.
Level 1 – Turn items from your attic and basement into cash using online auction sites. This fun, informative hands-on computer class teaches you how to put your unwanted items up for sale on eBay. Some experience in eBay or the first class on Buying on eBay is helpful for this class.

iPad: Getting Started
Instructor: M. DeGrauwe
Level 0 – Have you purchased an iPad and don’t know where to begin? In this class, we will start at the very beginning from activation to how to create your Apple ID. We will focus on the Home Screen, the parts of your device and the main apps to get you started: settings, calendar, contacts and mail. We will learn how to connect to Wi-Fi, get to the Internet using Safari, add contacts, set up your e-mail account, and schedule dates in your calendar. Bring your iPad with you to class. It must be charged. A reference guide is included in the fee.
