Mandarin Chinese Culture

Learn more about a country with a long history and splendid culture in this class. It is designed for people who may be interested in understanding China’s increasing role in our everyday lives or who may plan to travel. The class will examine current life in China including its history, geography, government, religion, and globalization.

Introduction to the Japanese Pop Culture

Do you like Japanese anime, manga, or songs? This course will focus on Japanese pop culture by describing and discussing how its popular culture has changed and is changing Japanese society. You will have a direct experience of modern Japanese culture and spoken language via samples of anime, manga, movies, drama, and song lyrics from a native of Japan.
